Social media and communications technologies are proving invaluable to those who seek to build more transparent, accountable and empowering democratic societies. Solutions which challenge citizens to question their own behaviors, participate in collecting and reporting a variety of data, and apps driven by freely accessible government data are all helping build communities interested in positive change, better interactions between governments and citizens and leveraging better service.
